Garant defines herself as a printmaker/ collage artist. Woodblock and linoleum printed Japanese papers are carefully juxtaposed on painted Plexiglas plates and then run through a printing press onto Rives BFK printing paper. This process is known as Chine Colle (gluing thin Eastern paper to heavier Western paper).
Recently, she has been incorporating into the prints more mark making with graphite, artists’ crayon and thread as well as pieces of wood and metal. Garant is a neo-minimalist who is committed to abstraction and prefers simplicity and limited color. Garant's solo exhibit "Structures" will be on display during September & October 2010.
